Ordering a slate plaque
(A) Find your favorite plaque design on the product pages.
(B) Decide between the plain plaque or the plaque with the border -- click "Add to Cart"
(C) Once you have clicked "Add to Cart," you will be asked to choose 3 additional options.
1. The color of the slate for the plaque (choose from black, burgundy, or green)
2. The color of the paint for the inlay text (choose from gold, silver, white, or black)
3. The color of cap cover for the screws (choose from burgundy, silver, black, gold, or white)
(D) Last, type in the text for your plaque. These plaques will hold up to 3 lines of text.
The "filigree ornament" counts as one line.

Slate is non-fading – it will not rust, it will not change colour.
These slate plaques are guaranteed not to fade or crack under normal conditions.
Signs that are damaged due to vandalism or other malicious acts will not be replaced.

These paints are LITHOCHROME paints – rated for 20 years of exterior use.
There will be some oxidation of the metallic paints after a period of time. However, the paint is guaranteed not to peel.
If there is any peeling of the sign, it will be replaced free of charge.
Also please note that because slate is a natural stone, it is not perfect. Slate contains pyrite, which is a hard mineral, and the pyrite may look like paint bubbles in the text areas that are sandblasted.
This is a naturally-occurring characteristic; there are no refunds for signs based upon this characteristic.

All of the screw cap covers are non-corrosive.
Likewise the screws for attaching the sign are stainless steel and will not rust.
There are two 2-½” wood screws provided with each sign.
The screws that are included are known as "Robinson-head Screws."
Most multiple-head screwdrivers will have a bit for this type of screw. |

(C) Finally, type in the wording for your plaque. These plaques will hold up to 3 lines of text.
The "filigris" ornamentation counts as one line of text.
If you are choosing to have this ornamentation put on you plaque, type in the word "filigris" when you enter your text on the order form.

Also Important: You must type in your text EXACTLY how you wish it to be shown on the plaque.
You have the following options for casing: all lowercase; ALL UPPERCASE; or Upper Case And Lower Case.

About Slate Plaques
Slate is a sedimentary rock. It is formed after long periods of weathering of stones. The fine sediment is carried to a lake bottom after which these fine sedimentary deposits become buried and then subjected to movement, heat and pressure beneath the surface of the earth. The consequent 'metamorphism' results in the formation of slate.
Different slates from around the world are of different ages.
They are still not young but the range is considerable: 500 million years old; 300 million years old; 150 million years old.
As with some wines - the older the slate, the higher the quality and durability. These slates are among the oldest in the world!
As slate is a natural stone, it is not perfect. In burgundy-color slate you may see some small green fleck and in green-color slate there will be small black markings. This is pyrite (a harder mineral found in the piece of stone) better known as “fools gold”. These markings are completely natural and in most cases cannot be avoided.
As well, in the sand blasted areas (inlay text area) there may be a line or raised areas (may look like paint bubbles but it is not); this is also pyrite that is unable to be penetrated by the sandblasting technique. When the stone is sandblasted this harder surface will not be completely smooth.
All of these special characteristics of slate add to its uniqueness and show that it is completely natural and an environmentally-friendly product.
Due to the fact that the above-mentioned are naturally-occurring characteristics; there are no refunds for signs based upon these characteristics. Please note that these natural characteristics may occur and will not take away from the beautiful natural appearance of the sign and the sign will not break during the weathering process because of these natural characteristics.
